The money went to the bankruptcy estate of Prospect Medical Holdings, a California for-profit company that closed the hospital in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cThis acquisition provides a strategic opportunity to meet the district\u2019s current and future space needs. In the near term, the district plans to stabilize the site for potential use as swing space to support elementary school renovations,\u201d school officials said in an email. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Longer term, the school district said, it hopes to use the hospital campus as an <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/delaware-county-memorial-upper-darby-school-district-sale-20250221.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/delaware-county-memorial-upper-darby-school-district-sale-20250221.html\">extension of the high school campus<\/a>, with a focus on science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, but that could be years away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">The district\u2019s goal is to expand \u201cin a way that minimizes impact on taxpayers \u2014 making this a once-in-a-generation opportunity to benefit our community for decades to come,&#8221; the statement said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">A <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/crozer-delaware-county-taylor-dcmh-sale-20250729.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/crozer-delaware-county-taylor-dcmh-sale-20250729.html\">sale of Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park<\/a> is close, according to a court notice Tuesday.
