PALMER TWP., Pa. – Almost $400,000 in federal and state dollars will be going towards a project in Palmer Township, Northampton County aimed at improving road safety for students and trail users.<\/p>\n
Te Federal Highway Administration and PennDOT awarded $399,754 for the development of the William Penn Highway School and Trail Crossing Project, the township said in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s all part of the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside program. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The township said the project will create a safe route to school and improved trail crossing along William Penn Highway at the Palmer Bikeway\/Two Rivers Trailway.<\/p>\n
Adjacent to the Easton Area High School, the project will install a new protected mid-block crossing, safety signage, and school zone designations to improve safety for all road users, especially students and trail users, the township said.<\/p>\n
