Lackawanna County will soon be buzzing with energy, teamwork and excitement as Lackawanna County 4H, in partnership with Johnson College, hosts the inaugural Clover Games on Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Johnson College in Scranton.<\/p>\n
Sponsored by the Lackawanna Heritage Valley, this unique youth event has been a full year in the making and promises to celebrate learning, leadership and community pride.<\/p>\n
The idea behind Clover Games began with a simple goal: to bring children together not just from Lackawanna County, but from surrounding counties as well for a fun-filled day that showcases everything the region has to offer. By hosting the event in Lackawanna County, organizers hope families will not only participate in the activities, but also explore the many cultural, educational and historical treasures found throughout the area.<\/p>\n
The Clover Games will feature 15 interactive activity stations, each designed to engage youth through hands-on learning and friendly competition. Activities range from lassoing a wooden horse to engineering challenges, such as building LEGO bridges and testing their strength. Each station encourages problem-solving, creativity and teamwork, core principles of the 4H program.<\/p>\n
Youth participants will have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of topics, including horses, sewing, rabbits, expressive arts, bats, sheep, beekeeping, pigs, wildlife, snails, birds, wind-powered boats and even a Junior First Responders station. These activities highlight the diversity of 4H programming and give young people the chance to discover new interests and skills in a supportive, engaging environment.<\/p>\n
This event would not be possible without the generous support of Lackawanna Heritage Valley, whose sponsorship helps ensure the Clover Games remain accessible to families while promoting the region\u2019s heritage and community connections. Their involvement reinforces the shared mission of educating youth while celebrating the unique character of the Lackawanna Valley.<\/p>\n
At its heart, the Clover Games is about more than just games. It is designed to help youth build leadership skills, learn the value of teamwork and form new friendships while having fun. By bringing families together from across Northeastern Pennsylvania, the event strengthens community bonds and highlights the positive impact of youth development programs.<\/p>\n
