Coplay is looking for a new mayor.<\/p>\n

Borough officials on Wednesday posted on social media<\/a> that they were accepting letters of interest for the post. The new mayor would serve out the remainder of Mayor Joseph J. Bundra\u2019s term, which expires Dec. 31, 2029.<\/p>\n

Potential mayors must be 18, a registered voter and a Coplay resident for at least 1 year. The borough is accepting letters until May 27, and interviews will take place at a public meeting on June 26.<\/p>\n

Bundra was appointed to the office in November 2024 to fill the post left vacant due to the death of Mayor Steve Burker in October 2024. In a post in the borough newsletter, Bundra cited unspecified health problems for his resignation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always appreciated the opportunity to serve Coplay to the best of my ability, including 6 years plus as Mayor and 8 years on Borough Council. I would like to thank the people of Coplay that supported me and especially the office staff who were always helpful and made serving as Mayor easier,\u201d Bundra wrote.<\/p>\n

Bundra\u2019s latest term was his second as mayor. He served from 2012 to 2026, before abruptly resigning due to \u201cpersonal reasons.\u201d He was also a former councilman.<\/a><\/p>\n
