A Sinking Spring man has been sentenced to 32 months in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm.<\/p>\n
Jeffrey Hill, 27, also was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Court Judge John M. Gallagher in Philadelphia to three years of supervised release, according to a release from U.S. Attorney David Metcalf of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
Hill was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and pleaded guilty in January.<\/p>\n
According to prosecutors:<\/p>\n
Berks County probation officers went to Hill\u2019s residence in January 2025 for a routine visit.<\/p>\n
Hill appeared nervous when he opened the door and saw the officers. The officers went inside, and one of them saw two metal pins, the type used to assemble a handgun, in a bag on a dresser.<\/p>\n
The probation officers obtained approval to search the residence and found two 12-gauge shotguns, a privately manufactured AR-15-style rifle and a privately manufactured 9 mm handgun loaded with 15 rounds of hollow point ammunition.<\/p>\n
They also found various types of ammunition; a ballistic vest; loaded magazines; gun parts, including a trigger assembly; two handgun frames; metal threaded cylinders; a slide lock and grip; and tools commonly used to manufacture homemade firearms.<\/p>\n
Officials said Hill had been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term of more than one year and was not permitted to possess a firearm or ammunition.<\/p>\n
According to online court records, Hill was sentenced by Berks Judge M. Theresa Johnson on Aug. 24, 2022, to nine to 23 months in prison followed by one year of probation after pleading guilty to illegally possessing a firearm.<\/p>\n
