LIMERICK TWP., Pa. – A Swedish company that makes products for “mobile living” is closing its factory in Montgomery County.<\/p>\n
Marine Acquisition Inc., doing business as Dometic, filed a notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.<\/p>\n
Dometic is closing its facility at 640 N. Lewis Road in Limerick Township and laying off 89 people.<\/p>\n
According to the WARN notice, the closure is expected to happen by the end of the year. Layoffs will begin in August.<\/p>\n
Dometic said some employees will be offered the option to relocate but didn’t specify how many.<\/p>\n
Dometic Corporation of the U.S. was founded by Electrolux in 1968. Following a number of mergers and acquisitions, Dometic was bought by a Swedish investment firm in 2001.<\/p>\n
The company has a number of other brands in its portfolio, like Igloo, Eskimo Ice and Delta Heat.<\/p>\n
Its products include camping equipment, RV accessories, portable air conditioners, and vehicle roof racks.<\/p>\n
According to its website, Dometic operates 23 manufacturing and assembly sites in 11 countries.<\/p>\n
In late 2024, Dometic announced a global restructuring plan that included closing two manufacturing sites and five distribution centers as well as the “rightsizing of resources” in manufacturing, supply and support functions.<\/p>\n
