HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) \u2014 While the primary election is Tuesday, a new campaign is making its way through Harrisburg.<\/p>\n
As cases continue to rise, Mr. Measles himself was out and about spreading his message to more people across the Commonwealth. After kicking off his campaign in Washington D.C., he made a stop in Harrisburg.<\/p>\n
\u201cMeasles is on the ballot this November,\u201d Alan Jacobs of Mr. Measles For America Campaign said. \u201cRFK and the administration have been doing everything in their power to restrict access to childhood vaccines and to change the childhood vaccine schedule. And so because they\u2019ve put measles on the ballot, we decided to have Mr. Measles himself run his own campaign and kind of talk about how great measles is and spread the message far and wide to as many kids in America as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
This, as cases continue to rise in parts of Pennsylvania, which is concerning, Jacobs said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHugely concerning. I mean, we were on the brink of, or we had eliminated measles in this country, and now we\u2019re on the brink of kind of losing that elimination status,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Close<\/a><\/p>\n Thanks for signing up!<\/p>\n Watch for us in your inbox.<\/p>\n Subscribe Now<\/p>\n Its also a huge concern for Dr. John Goldman at UPMC, who said the state has already seen more Measles cases within the last decade or two.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd in this we have already seen more cases than in Pennsylvania than we\u2019ve probably seen in the last 15, 20 years,\u201d Goldman said.<\/p>\n As for the spike, Goldman said he knows that those who get Measles aren\u2019t vaccinated and vaccines are something RFK has spoken against.<\/p>\n
