A fresh dining concept is starting service in Philly<\/a>, and its offerings are fully loaded.<\/p>\n

Mod Spuds<\/a> is a new jacket potato spot from Chef Ange Branca and the team behind Kampar, and the brand\u2019s first brick-and-mortar has set roots on South Street<\/a> after originally being introduced as a one-month, two-day-a-week residency at Comfort & Floyd.<\/p>\n

The pop-up amassed a loyal following, and now, locals can visit the venue or order delivery (via Uber Eats) to try out some of the packed food and refreshing drink options.<\/p>\n

The idea was inspired by Branca\u2019s time studying in Scotland in the 1990s, where jacket potato bars were and still are a staple, a release notes. It was Branca\u2019s favorite meal while living there, and she\u2019s always wanted to bring this concept to Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe saw such an incredible response during the residency, and people kept asking us to keep it going,\u201d Branca explains. \u201cOpening a permanent space felt like the natural next step, especially now that we can bring Mod Spuds directly to people through delivery. We\u2019re thrilled to welcome back our regulars and meet new guests who told us they were disappointed that they didn\u2019t get a chance to try it the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n

At Mod Spuds, the quintessential loaded jacket potato will receive a creative upgrade with flavors from both around the world and close to home.<\/p>\n

The brand\u2019s opening menu offers six different options: The Mod Spud (baked beans, chili con carne and scallions), Philly Spud (Philly cheesesteak and pepper relish), Nacho Spud (chorizo, pico de gallo and salsa verde), Malaysian Spud (rendang, ulam, sambal and cilantro), Bollywood Spud (dhall, chicken tikka masala, white sauce and cilantro) and the vegan Happy Jack Spud (pulled bbq jackfruit, coleslaw and pickled jalape\u00f1os.) There\u2019s additionally a build your own spud option.<\/p>\n

Guests can also pair their meal with a lineup of specialty drinks, including house-made sodas (Shirley Temple, anyone?), Malaysian iced tea, and other sips. There\u2019s also a selection of vegetarian and gluten-free options peppered throughout the menu, and an option to add two scoops of vanilla ice cream to any libation.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not all that locals can expect from Branca in the city in 2026\u2014 Mod Spuds\u2019 sister restaurant, Kampar<\/a>, which closed following a fire in 2025, remains under construction and is expected to open later this year. The James-Beard Award-winning venue will continue to serve up Malaysian favorites once back up and running.<\/p>\n

But for now, locals can dive headfirst into Branca\u2019s culinary creativity one spud at a time.<\/p>\n
