A Pittsburgh bakery with an apparent rodent problem is under Consumer Alert by the Allegheny County Health Department.<\/p>\n
Inspectors say Prantl\u2019s Bakery on Walnut Street in Shadyside was cited for six violations, including one considered high-risk.<\/p>\n
An inspection conducted on Thursday, May 14, shows rodent droppings were found in several areas including near a dish machine, near the back exterior door, on a shelf near the icing station, under the sink, on a tabletop \u201cnext to the mixer to the right of the grease trap\u201d, on trays and on top of boxes of sprinkles, behind a case county, on paper to-go bags under the register counter and several other areas.<\/p>\n
Also, a decomposed rat was found in the basement by the furnace.<\/p>\n
The inspection was conducted in response to a complaint filed to the Health Department.<\/p>\n
An inspection says \u201cThe facility is not being cleaned. The rodent droppings are not being properly removed and the areas disinfected.\u201d<\/p>\n
The alert will be removed after the entire facility is cleaned, along with rodent droppings being removed and areas disinfected and \u201call non-essential items in the basement and storage closets must be removed.\u201d<\/p>\n
The violations must be corrected within 10 days or the facility will be ordered closed.<\/p>\n
