READING, Pa. – Authorities in Reading are investigating a fatal stabbing.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, May 9, the Berks County Coroner\u2019s Office was notified by Reading Hospital that an individual suffering from apparent stab wounds had been pronounced dead at the hospital.<\/p>\n
The man, later identified as 56-year-old Leonardo Mercado Gomez of Reading, was discovered by a passerby on River Road between the Buttonwood Street Bridge and W. Washington Street.<\/p>\n
According to family members, Mercado Gomez was walking home from work at Sun Rich Foods, located in the 400 block of Gateway Drive, when he was attacked.<\/p>\n
An autopsy determined the cause of death was multiple stab wounds and the manner of death homicide.<\/p>\n
