EASTON, Pa. – A freshly painted pink building in downtown Easton is turning heads.<\/p>\n

Fidelity Bank on South Third Street has been temporarily painted ahead of its demolition early next month.<\/p>\n

69 News Reporter Cierra Genelle caught up with the artist who is beginning a week-long painting project, to add a mural to the building.<\/p>\n

Think of it as ‘one last hurrah’, before the bank comes down.<\/p>\n

“I’m an artist. I mean, I do tattoos, murals, everything,” said Max Meano.<\/p>\n

It’s a one-man job.<\/p>\n

“Yep,” said Meano. “It’s hard to put a number to it, because the spray cans are in milliliters, and I don’t like counting that high, but it’s going to take quite a bit of paint.”<\/p>\n

It’s Meano’s brightest project yet.<\/p>\n

“I love paint. Nothing’s permanent,” said Meano.<\/p>\n

The finished product will only sit temporarily on the building.<\/p>\n

“I do all kinds of murals that sometimes they go away,” said Meano.<\/p>\n

But the memories?<\/p>\n

“Sometimes they stay forever,” Meano said.<\/p>\n

Give it a week and Meano will give the trending ‘pink building’ a fresh coat.<\/p>\n

“We’re going to write ‘Own Easton’ on the building with a bulls-eye for when the demo team comes,” Meano said.<\/p>\n

Demolition crews are expected to start in early June, paving the way for “The Lynden”, a mixed-use condominium building and Easton’s first owner-occupied condominium project.<\/p>\n

More than 50% of the condos have been sold, with the top floor condo selling for $1.3 million.<\/p>\n

The Easton Planning Commission granted final approval for the planned new mixed-use building at a meeting in early February<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complex will feature more than 70 condominiums and more than 2,000 square feet of first-floor commercial and retail space.<\/p>\n

The condominiums will be comprised of 15 one-bedroom units, 36 two-bedroom units and 22 three-bedroom units and penthouses, which have balconies. Officials with the application noted there would be a gym and bicycle room on the first floor.<\/p>\n

Before the seven-story building joins the city’s skyline, the developers, Serfass Companies. said they wanted to drum up the excitement ahead of the demolition and all of the chatter is part of the plan.<\/p>\n

After all, a brick building sitting pretty in pink, is quite the conversation starter for folks strolling the streets, including Easton Mayor Sal Panto.<\/p>\n

“Well, I’m looking at a pink building that doesn’t match our historic flavor in downtown Easton,” said Panto. “I was stopped by a passerby who told me it was ugly, and it is, but it is making a statement. I’m happy with the developer, and I think they have a reason to do it, it’s working.”<\/p>\n

The developers said demolition work will begin June 1st<\/p>\n

The building won’t come down all at once.
