BETHLEHEM, Pa. – It’s a tale of two investigations.<\/p>\n
Bethlehem police say they are investigating a fiery crash at Elizabeth and New streets as an accident and a criminal matter.<\/p>\n
24 hours after the crash, the only reminders are two new telephone poles and debris.<\/p>\n
Adrian Fratelli, co-owner of Fratelli Pizza, is still thinking about it.<\/p>\n
“Feel like if this telephone pole wasn’t here, the white car definitely would have made it inside the building, for sure, because he was just flying so fast,” said Fratelli.<\/p>\n
Police say they are investigating the crash as an accident and a criminal matter.<\/p>\n
“Initial observations led us to believe that there is a criminal element to this,” said Bethlehem Police Cpt. William Audello.<\/p>\n
Dash cam video taken two minutes before the crash shows one of the cars driving erratically and crossing into oncoming traffic near the Westgate Mall 1.7 miles away.<\/p>\n
Police are looking for more video of the car, having reconstruction experts look at the scene and are awaiting toxicology reports before deciding on charges.<\/p>\n
Fratelli was working at his pizza shop when it happened.<\/p>\n
His brother took a video of him rushing to help two women who were trapped in a car by the pizza shop entrance, and a man in a white car just feet away from the restaurant window.<\/p>\n
After the crash, people came out of their homes and businesses to help until emergency services arrived.<\/p>\n
Fratelli says that’s just the kind of people who live in this neighborhood.<\/p>\n
Fratelli says he hopes everyone involved in the accident is ok.<\/p>\n
