The Lehigh Valley<\/a> won big in this year\u2019s statewide What\u2019s So Cool About Manufacturing Contest in Harrisburg<\/a>.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

This was the eighth year for\u00a0\u201cBest\u00a0of PA\u201d Statewide Awards Event and this year\u2019s contest\u00a0had\u00a022\u00a0student teams competing for first, second and third place awards,\u00a0and\u00a0recognition for\u00a0the\u00a0Statewide\u00a0Viewers\u00a0Choice\u00a0winner.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

First\u00a0Place went to\u00a0Nazareth Area Middle School featuring B. Braun Medical Inc.\u00a0(Lehigh Valley Contest)\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Second\u00a0Place went to\u00a0Saucon Valley Middle School featuring Crayola<\/a> (Lehigh Valley Contest)\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Third Place went to\u00a0Manheim Township Middle School featuring\u00a0Ecore\u00a0International\u00a0(South\u00a0Central\u00a0East Contest)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

A three-judge panel, viewed the 22 entries,\u00a0representing\u00a013 regional contests across Pennsylvania and a total of 166 student videos, to select the statewide award recipients.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Statewide\u00a0Viewers\u00a0Choice\u00a0recognition went\u00a0to Springhouse\u00a0Middle School\u00a0featuring Mack Trucks<\/a> from the Lehigh\u00a0Valley Contest\u00a0was recognized for garnering the largest number of regional vote totals across\u00a0the\u00a0state,\u00a0during three days of online voting where all Pennsylvania teams competed to win their\u00a0regional\u00a0Viewers\u00a0Choice Award.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThe continued success of the What\u2019s So Cool program validates its effort to generate excitement toward\u00a0careers in\u00a0the\u00a0manufacturing\u00a0sector\u00a0and\u00a0to\u00a0promote STEM\u00a0education and technical training\u00a0among students and parents,\u201d\u00a0said Karen\u00a0Buck,\u00a0director of\u00a0Workforce Initiatives Manufacturers Resource Center<\/a>, which runs the\u00a0competition.\u00a0\u201cWe are so excited and proud to celebrate the Best of PA 2026\u00a0student teams and highlight their\u00a0videos!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

The\u00a0\u201cWhat\u2019s\u00a0So\u00a0Cool\u00a0About\u00a0Manufacturing\u201d\u00a0Student\u00a0Video\u00a0Contest,\u00a0began\u00a0in the Lehigh Valley and\u00a0has since\u00a0garnered over\u00a07,000,000 combined votes by the public during regional online voting dates since its\u00a0inception\u00a0in 2013.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\u00a0More than\u00a060% of Pennsylvania school districts have\u00a0participated\u00a0in the\u00a0program.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

The\u00a0competition was designed to\u00a0give\u00a0students\u00a0the\u00a0opportunity\u00a0to\u00a0interact\u00a0with\u00a0local manufacturers\u00a0as\u00a0they\u00a0gain\u00a0new\u00a0perspectives\u00a0about\u00a0careers\u00a0and\u00a0technology,\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

record\u00a0their\u00a0experiences and\u00a0present them in an educational and \u201ccool\u201d way through documentary video production.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

The contest was created to generate excitement that draws students toward considering manufacturing career paths to create a 21st century workforce.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
