NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police said a man had approximately 40 pounds of marijuana in a vehicle he was driving in Northampton County.<\/p>\n
Authorities charged Robert Melvin Termane Gilliard, of New York, with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and related offenses, according to a news release from the Northampton County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
State police stopped a vehicle Gilliard was driving for vehicle code violations Tuesday, the DA\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n
The DA\u2019s office said troopers saw suspected drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle during the stop.<\/p>\n
Troopers removed Gilliard from the vehicle, the DA\u2019s office said. A certified narcotics detection canine alerted troopers that controlled substances were in the vehicle, according to the news release.<\/p>\n
The DA\u2019s office said authorities then detained Gilliard.<\/p>\n
Authorities seized approximately 40 pounds of marijuana from the vehicle after getting a search warrant, the DA\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n
