Erie police break it down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">(WJET\/WFXP)\u2013 Medical emergencies and crime can happen every day, but calling 911 might not be the best option, as the City of Erie and its police department pointed out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Erie Police Department is looking to remind the public about when you should call 911 and when to call their non-emergency line when reporting a crime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.yourerie.com\/news\/local-news\/interstate-79-to-undergo-work-this-week\/?ipid=promo-link-block1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:Interstate 79 to undergo work this week;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;Interstate 79 to undergo work this week&quot;}\"> Interstate 79 to undergo work this week <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">For calling 911, Erie police said to call immediately if there\u2019s a situation that involves danger to life, active threats, serious injury, fire, or a crime in progress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As for the non-emergency line, Erie police said it\u2019s best to call their number to report a past crime with no current danger, noise complaints, questions about police information or service and to report loose animals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Finally, Erie police said, when in doubt, call 911 if someone is in immediate danger.
