PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) \u2014 Pennsylvanians are being encouraged to make a plan to vote ahead of the primary election tomorrow, May 19.<\/p>\n
Polls will open across the Commonwealth at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Voters are reminded that if they are in line by 8 p.m., they will be allowed to cast their ballot. All completed mail ballots must be returned to county election boards by 9 p.m. in order to be counted.<\/p>\n
Things to know before heading to the polls:<\/p>\n
If a voter requested a mail ballot but decides to vote in person instead, they can surrender their ballot materials, including the outer envelope, at their polling place and vote there.<\/p>\n
First-time voters and those voting for the first time in a new precinct must show identification.<\/p>\n
Voters who have been told by their county that their mail ballot may not be counted due to an error \u2013 such as a missing signature or secrecy envelope \u2013 may vote by provisional ballot at their polling place.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs always, the Department of State wants to ensure that voters can make their voices heard and cast their ballots safely and securely,\u201d Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said. \u201cWe want every voter to be informed about how to exercise their right to vote in tomorrow\u2019s primary election.\u201d<\/p>\n
