FOUNTAIN HILL, Pa. – An Allentown man charged in a 2024 shooting and burglary at a Fountain Hill pharmacy has pleaded guilty.<\/p>\n
Miguel Angel Martinez, 57, of Allentown, pleaded guilty Monday to charges of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Burglary and a misdemeanor charge of Possessing Instruments of Crime, according to a press release from the Lehigh County DA\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
Officials say Martinez\u2019s sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 26. He faces a possible maximum sentence of 22 \u00bd to 45 years in state prison, according to the release.<\/p>\n
Also charged in the case is David Montes Vazquez, 34, of Bethlehem. He is charged with felony counts of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Conspiracy to Possession of a Firearm Prohibited, Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property and misdemeanor charges of Conspiracy to Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Conspiracy to Make Repairs\/Sell an Offensive Weapon, Conspiracy to Possession of a Weapon and Conspiracy to Theft by Unlawful Taking.<\/p>\n
Authorities say Vazquez is scheduled for a status conference at 10 a.m. on May 28, 2026.<\/p>\n
Around 9 p.m. on Dec. 25, 2024, Fountain Hill Police were called to a sounding burglar alarm at the Fountain Hill Pharmacy at 1049 Broadway.<\/p>\n
Police arrived and saw two men in the store, later identified as Martinez and Vazquez. According to the DA, one of the men pointed a firearm at a Fountain Hill officer who opened fire but did not hit either defendant.<\/p>\n
Allegedly several gunshots were fired by Vazquez, but no one was injured by any of the gunfire.<\/p>\n
However, two gunshots fired by Vazquez from inside the pharmacy are said to have entered a nearby occupied home located at the 1000 block of Broadway in Fountain Hill.<\/p>\n
Residents were ordered to stay inside their homes during a standoff.<\/p>\n
Both defendants eventually surrendered to police.<\/p>\n
