Juliette DeStefano, Old Forge High School<\/p>\n

Q: What accomplishments are you most proud of and why?<\/p>\n

A: Including my athletic and academic achievements, I am most proud of being recognized as a first-team Division III girls\u2019 soccer All-Star. This accomplishment is representative of my leadership and performance on the soccer field, but also a remembrance of my soccer career and the relationships formed throughout it. Being a part of the team while it was founded and later becoming a captain is another accomplishment I hold close to my heart. I am proud of not only myself but the whole Old Forge girls\u2019 soccer program.<\/p>\n

Q: Whom do you most admire and why?<\/p>\n

A: The person I most admire is my mother. Not only has she done the impossible task of raising children but also supporting them. She encourages me along with my siblings to perform to our best capacity, while also performing and achieving numerous accomplishments herself. One of her many impressive accomplishments includes receiving her doctorate degree while working a full-time job and parenting five children. I aspire to have her determination and hardworking attitude.<\/p>\n

Q: What were your most rewarding school or community activities? Why?<\/p>\n

A: The most rewarding school activity that I have participated in is an elementary pep rally. The preparation for the day was extremely intense, however, the reward of seeing their happiness was incredible. I deeply enjoy helping and encouraging young students and athletes, and this event was a culmination of the two. To me, seeing children laugh and cheer is a reward. Not only did we lift their spirits, but they did the same in return.<\/p>\n

Q: What do you do in your spare time?<\/p>\n

A: Some of my hobbies include reading, tending to plants, building Legos, and making arts and crafts projects. I have read many books of many genres which continue to fill my room. Along with books, my bedroom has Legos all throughout showcasing my many hours of building. I represent my favorite books I have read through another hobby of mine, bedazzling. I have created many custom books which keep me entertained. These hobbies are a way for me to escape from my everyday life and relax.<\/p>\n

Q: What are your plans after high school graduation? Why did you choose this path?<\/p>\n

A: After high school, I plan to study biochemistry at a four-year university. My long-term goal is to become a pediatric oncologist. I chose this career path because I have always wanted to shape children\u2019s lives and the sciences have always intrigued me. Pediatric oncology combines both of my passions and is a career path I will happily pursue.<\/p>\n

Q: What is your advice to younger students?<\/p>\n

A: My advice to younger students is to take everything in small pieces. You will enjoy those small pieces immensely. The little moments are the most memorable. Some will become lessons and others are moments you replay on your worst days. Either way, you will hold onto those precious moments of your life forever.<\/p>\n

Q: Finish this sentence: The most interesting thing about me is \u2026<\/p>\n

A: The most interesting thing about me is that I\u2019ve experienced more through books and films than some will in their entire lives.<\/p>\n

A little about Juliette DeStefano<\/p>\n

Juliette DeStefano was enrolled in both the University of Scranton and Lackawanna College while still in high school. Her school says she is \u201cset apart by her perseverance and intrinsic motivation\u201d and is a role model.<\/p>\n

She is the daughter of Jillian and Joseph DeStefano.<\/p>\n

As a multisport athlete, she was captain of both the softball and soccer teams. She also cheered and played golf and mentored younger athletes.<\/p>\n

Juliette\u2019s other activities include: the National Honor Society, Scholastic Bowl, the Watershed Team, student council and the French, peer mediation, Aevidum and math\/science clubs.<\/p>\n
