\n\t\t\t\t\t\tAngela Scharf says her Polish Hill home\u2019s exterior looks fine now, but three weeks ago, the entire brick wall collapsed, leaving her struggling to get repairs and communicate with her landlord. \u201cHe\u2019s a landlord, who else am I supposed to go to?\u201d Scharf said. Scharf told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that she has been asking her landlord to fix various issues for years. While she let smaller problems go, she said the wall collapse was too significant to ignore. \u201cThey were supposed to redo the brick a good three years ago, and the people kept turning it down, and then someone just popped up this time,\u201d Scharf said. \u201cThey got it all OK, but when they put it back up, they were banging so hard that the wall inside was crumbling.”Scharf said she panicked and tried to contact her landlord, only to discover she had been blocked. \u201cI just started screaming. Like, I was trying to call him, but I couldn\u2019t. I didn\u2019t know I was blocked,\u201d Scharf said. The incident occurred on April 28, 2026. Scharf said drywall was placed inside the home, and the exterior brick wall was fixed that same day. However, three weeks later, the drywall remains in poor condition. Scharf said she later learned that an inspector came to the area after receiving a tip, but went to the wrong home. She shared text messages between her and her landlord with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4. In one message, he asked if an inspector had shown up at the house. He then responded, saying, \u201cI hope to God this doesn\u2019t go bad.\u201d The next day, he asked her, \u201cWhat did you think you were going to gain by filing a complaint with the city?\u201d \u201cYour wife and kids wouldn\u2019t wanna live here, so why do I have to?\u201d Scharf said. \u201cI\u2019m done with here. Like, I don\u2019t wanna live here anymore, but in the same breath, I\u2019m not financially capable of just picking up and going,\u201d she said.
