\t\t\tOBITUARY\t\t<\/p>\n
Larry Lee Schroeder, 85, formerly of Sinking Spring, passed from this life<\/p>\n
while he slept and entered eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on<\/p>\n
Tuesday, May 12, 2026, while being cared for at the Highlands of Wyomissing,<\/p>\n
where he resided. Born in Marion Township, Berks County, he was the son of the<\/p>\n
late Leroy F. and Elsie M. (Balthaser) Schroeder Meshinsky. Larry enjoyed over 63<\/p>\n
years of marriage to his loving wife, Lucy Ann Arnold.<\/p>\n
A 1958 graduate of Wilson High School, West Lawn, Larry went on to work as<\/p>\n
a stock employee for Boscov\u2019s, the only place that would hire him because he was<\/p>\n
only 17. He briefly worked for the Sinking Spring Foundry followed by Herb Motor<\/p>\n
Ford and served our nation proudly in the Army Reserve. He loved working at the<\/p>\n
various regional drag races and moved on to employment as an auto mechanic for<\/p>\n
Reading Foreign Car in West Lawn, then joined his father in his electrical business,<\/p>\n
L & L Schroeder, Electric. He became a well-respected electrician, working<\/p>\n
throughout Berks County for 41 years before retiring in 2011 to the great<\/p>\n
disappointment of his many long-time customers.<\/p>\n
He was deeply devoted to his Lord and served faithfully at Calvary Bible<\/p>\n
Fellowship Church, Sinking Spring, where he was a charter member. He served on<\/p>\n
the deacon board for a time, was a well-loved youth leader along with Lucy,<\/p>\n
participated in several mission trips, and ran the multi-church monthly Christian<\/p>\n
Skate Nights at Skateaway in Shillington. He and Lucy were also board members of<\/p>\n
the Berks County Christian Endeavor in the early 1960\u2019s.<\/p>\n
Larry loved cars and racing. During his younger years as an auto mechanic, he<\/p>\n
participated in the Duryea Hill Climbs where he still holds the record for his class,<\/p>\n
which is no longer run. He proudly showed and won trophies for the two foreign<\/p>\n
sports cars he restored, a beautiful dark green Sunbeam Tiger and a red Sunbeam<\/p>\n
Alpine. Larry was also a self-proclaimed roller coaster enthusiast, often riding his<\/p>\n
favorite coaster, The Phoenix, at Knoebels. He loved amusement parks in general<\/p>\n
and made sure to visit the nearest ones every year. He also enjoyed frequent trips<\/p>\n
to Disney World with Lucy and their family.<\/p>\n
Larry greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his<\/p>\n
grandchildren. Camping, boating, waterskiing, country line dancing, cruising,<\/p>\n
auctioning, collecting various antiques (especially old bells), studying the history of<\/p>\n
Berks County (especially Berkshire Knitting Mills where his father worked), and bus<\/p>\n
trips with the Marion Seniors were just some of his favorite activities. He was a \u201cJack<\/p>\n
of all trades\u201d and loved helping everyone whenever a need arose.<\/p>\n
In addition to his beloved Lucy, Larry is survived by their daughter, Robin L.<\/p>\n
Goodman, wife of Stuart, of Mohnton; three adoring grandchildren, Jordan, Meredith<\/p>\n
and Blake Goodman; and his sisters, Patsy Davis of Denver, PA, and Janel Dick,<\/p>\n
wife of Argyl, of Ephrata.<\/p>\n
Visitation will be held at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, 4891 Penn Avenue,<\/p>\n
Sinking Spring, PA 19608, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 2:00-3:00PM, followed<\/p>\n
by a Service at 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Larry\u2019s<\/p>\n
