{"id":196844,"date":"2026-05-19T16:39:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T16:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/196844\/"},"modified":"2026-05-19T16:39:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T16:39:07","slug":"heidelberg-borough-police-chief-found-dead-inside-patrol-vehicle-while-on-duty-wpxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/196844\/","title":{"rendered":"Heidelberg Borough police chief found dead inside patrol vehicle while on duty \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">HEIDELBERG, Pa. \u2014 The Heidelberg Borough Police Department is mourning the loss of its chief.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The borough put out a release on Tuesday, saying they are \u201csaddened to announce the sudden and tragic death of Police Chief Dennis Dixon while on duty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Chief Dixon was found dead in his patrol vehicle around 8:50 p.m. on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">He joined the Heidelberg Police Department in 2008 and was promoted to chief in 2018.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cOur thoughts are with Chief Dixon\u2019s family and loved ones during this difficult time,\u201d the borough said in the release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The Allegheny County Police Department is investigating.
