A signed federal warrant carried out in Upper Darby went properly, police said.<\/p>\n
In a post on social media at 6 a.m. Tuesday, township police alerted residents that they were standing by as federal authorities carried out a signed federal warrant in the 200 block of Wembley Road, which is in the area of Bywood School, where polls for District 5, precinct 7 opened at 7 a.m.<\/p>\n
The school was closed for election day.<\/p>\n
Suggestions that the warrant impacted the polls were not accurate, said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll defer all questions to the FBI. What I can share is it was for the rape of a 2-year-old child,\u201d Bernhardt said. \u201cNo interruptions to any schools or polling place. We have zero calls for anything related to today\u2019s activity. It should be noted, this was a convicted sex offender living near a school. No one should be comfortable with anyone convicted of such a heinous crime living so close to our elementary school\u201d<\/p>\n
