A Clarks Summit woman is suing Tri-Star Daycare and a former worker there after she said the woman abused her daughter over the course of several months.<\/p>\n
Beginning in January 2025, Gloria Collado began noticing her daughter appeared distressed when picked up from Tri-Star\u2019s Blakely location. Collado noticed unexplained bruising, an abrasion on her noise, routine diaper rashes and dirty diapers, the suit alleges.<\/p>\n
The child also began exhibiting uncharacteristic behaviors, including an aversion to being picked up from school by anyone other than her mother, the suit continues.<\/p>\n
On March 5, Collado learned that one of her daughter\u2019s daycare teachers, identified as \u201cJane Doe,\u201d had been terminated from the daycare\u2019s Blakely location.<\/p>\n
When Collado asked the Blakely Center director why Doe had been terminated, the director said there had been ongoing issues with the teacher and that she was \u201cawful,\u201d according to the lawsuit.<\/p>\n
The director allegedly addressed concerns with the worker numerous times to no avail.<\/p>\n
In April 2025, Collado took her daughter out of the daycare center, but the youngster continued to be afraid to be left alone with anyone except her parents and seemed increasingly anxious.<\/p>\n
In July, a representative of the Lackawanna County Office of Youth and Family Services called Collado, indicating there had been an incident on March 3.<\/p>\n
The OYFS representative told Collado the agency was investigating Jane Doe and had footage of her using her leg to the plaintiff\u2019s daughter\u2019s chest in an attempt to get her to \u201cstop making noise\u201d during nap time, according to the lawsuit.<\/p>\n
The suit alleges the child \u201csustained embarrassment, humiliation, emotional distress and a loss of every day pleasures and enjoyments of life, which loss is permanent in nature.\u201d<\/p>\n
Collado is seeking \u201can amount in excess of $50,000, together with punitive damages, costs, interest and any other\u00a0 further damages as this Honorable Court deems appropriate under the law.\u201d<\/p>\n
The suit alleges that the actions of the daycare of the unnamed employee warranted punitive damages, describing them as \u201cmalicious, intentional and reckless.\u201d<\/p>\n
In response to an email regarding the lawsuit, Tri-Star said they had not yet been served with the lawsuit.<\/p>\n
\u201cBoth a state agency and a county agency previously looked into a matter concerning this child, and neither agency found any issues,\u201d they said in an email to the Times-Tribune.<\/p>\n
In addition to its Blakely location, Tri-Star Daycare has locations in Jessup, Jermyn and Archbald.<\/p>\n
