But voter turnout across Berks County certainly did not.<\/p>\n
Overall, just over 23% of registered Democrats and Republicans cast ballots for their party\u2019s nominees for governor, lieutenant governor, representative in Congress, half of all state Senate seats, all seats in the state House and state committee seats. Voters not registered with one of the two major parties were ineligible to take part in the election because Pennsylvania has closed primaries.<\/p>\n
That number is slightly less than recent, similar elections. In the 2022 midterm primary, for example, turnout was nearly 28%.<\/p>\n
As is often the case in a midterm election, the party not in the White House appears to have been more motivated to show up to the polls.<\/p>\n
Democrats showed up out at a slightly higher rate than Republicans this year, with a turnout of nearly 25% of the 104,175 eligible. Republican turnout was about 22% of the 118,141 eligible.<\/p>\n
A total of 51,344 ballots were cast.<\/p>\n
Of the ballots cast, the majority were cast in-person at polling locations on Tuesday. About 69% of ballots were cast in-person, and only about 32% were mail ballots.<\/p>\n
Democrats were much more likely to cast a mail ballot, with about 44% doing so. Only about 19% of Republicans cast ballots by mail.<\/p>\n
