The Pennsylvania state parole officer accused of shooting and killing Marchello Woodard last year now faces two less charges.<\/p>\n
The Erie County District Attorney\u2019s Office filed a motion to drop two charges against Kevin Seelinger, his attorney Chad Vilushis told Erie News Now\u2019s Philip Ward.<\/p>\n
A judge granted the motion to remove simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor, and harassment, a summary offense.<\/p>\n
Seelinger, 35, still faces charges of homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person. His trial is still scheduled to begin in October.<\/p>\n
The fatal shooting during a parole compliance check on Erie\u2019s east side on July 2, 2025, led to months of protests and calls for justice.<\/p>\n
The coroner ruled Woodard\u2019s death as a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n
Investigators initially said Seelinger shot Woodard, 43, as the parole agent hung onto Woodard\u2019s moving car.<\/p>\n
Woodard\u2019s family questioned that account called for more transparency from investigators ever since.<\/p>\n
The District Attorney\u2019s Office later filed charges Dec. 19 following an investigation by Pennsylvania State Police in collaboration with the Erie County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
