Students at Iroquois Elementary School are getting a boost in the fight against childhood hunger, thanks to support from a national nonprofit organization.<\/p>\n
GENYouth, a group focused on student nutrition and wellness, is donating resources to select schools across Pennsylvania following a fundraising effort tied to the NFL Draft. Iroquois Elementary is among 91 schools statewide chosen to benefit from the initiative this year.<\/p>\n
The program aims to address food insecurity among children, a widespread issue across the country. Nearly 30 million students rely on school meals each day, but many miss out on breakfast due to barriers such as time constraints, transportation challenges, or scheduling conflicts in the morning.<\/p>\n
By providing funding and resources, GENYouth hopes to make it easier for schools like Iroquois Elementary to expand access to nutritious meals and ensure students start their day ready to learn.<\/p>\n
In addition to nutrition support, the nonprofit also donated flag football kits to the school\u2019s physical education department. The equipment is expected to help promote physical activity and encourage students to stay active while developing teamwork and fitness skills.<\/p>\n
School leaders say the combined focus on nutrition and physical health will have a meaningful impact on students, both in the classroom and beyond.<\/p>\n
