Once again, we are with the top prospect in the New York Yankees organization, George Lombard Jr. We continue our conversation here at the ballpark. And okay. Off the field. What do you like to do?

George Lombard Jr, Railriders shortstop says , “Play FIFA. We know that. Yeah, that’s one of them. I like to cook. I like in the offseason. I mean, from Miami, I like spearfishing, I like being in the ocean. I like doing kind of anything regarding the ocean. Most of it regards outdoor stuff. I just like being outdoors. Kind of grew up like that.

Ide, What was it like growing up in Miami? Your dad being on the road all the time. What was that experience ?

Lombard says, “It was cool. I mean, I come from so my my whole mom’s side of the family is Cuban, so, have a big Cuban background and obviously Miami, there’s a big Latin American population. So, yeah, it was a really fun upbringing. I loved being in Miami. I still love the city. It’s where I spend my off seasons. It’s where I’m going to live for as long as I can. I mean, for forever. And. Yeah, it’s cool. It’s very diverse. A very passionate community. Yeah, I. love it.

You mentioned cooking. Cuban cooking. What do you like to make?

Lombard answers, “ Yeah, a little bit of everything. I like being diverse. I kind of got into it during Covid, when we were all trapped at the house, and my brother and I kind of messing around with some experiments and stuff, and I’m. Yeah, I kind of make a little bit of everything.

What are your expectations? what it is to be a professional baseball player.

Lombard says, “ You know, it takes time. And you have to get some breaks here and here and there and show them what you really want to do and how good you can be, how patient or can you be. I really all of the like the results based stuff and things that are outside of my control. It’s I try not to spend. I try to spend as little time as possible thinking about that or given any thought into that stuff. It’s really trying to do whatever I can do to be a better player and to help this team win.

And I think, the more I do that and the more I focus on the controllable, I think that all that stuff will kind of work out as the process goes

What are you trying to still learn? What do you think you need to learn more?

Lombard says, “ A little bit of everything. Just little things that happen in the game. Just understanding the game, understanding the plays, understanding the dynamic of the team and kind of just having functions, preparation, like, building approach, building plans for games, little things like that, that just kind of come with experience.

Well, we look forward to seeing you and we’re glad you’re here right now. And someday, George Lombard junior may be with the New York Yankees. Maybe sooner than later.
