A New Jersey man was arrested after a TikTok video went viral that depicted him harassing a woman, according to the Mount Laurel Police Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The man, identified by police as Thomas Diiorio, 40, was arrested and charged over alleged harassment and bias intimidation, officials said. <\/p>\n

In court documents, obtained by NBC10’s Siobhan McGirl<\/a>, police said Diiorio was charged with harassment because he used the phrase “you people” when verbally confronting the victim. <\/p>\n

Officials said that Diiorio told officers he was “referring to Black people because he never seems to have these problems with white people” when he made that comment.<\/p>\n

The incident unfolded on the 3000 block of Saxony Drive in Mount Laurel around 6:26 p.m. on May 18, police said. <\/p>\n

When officers got to the scene, they said they separated the two people after a dispute over a juvenile where each person accused the other of wrongdoing. <\/p>\n

In a video that has over 1 million views on social media, a man and a woman are seen outside by some cars. <\/p>\n

The woman is holding her phone up to her ear while a man in a green outfit yells at her. <\/p>\n

He can be heard saying, “Get the f*** out of here. Go! Get in your car,” at the woman while she asks bystanders to call police. <\/p>\n

Diiorio was charged with harassment and bias intimidation, officials said. <\/p>\n

“Great work by the\u00a0Mount\u00a0Laurel\u00a0Police Department for handling this situation swiftly and professionally. They wasted no time in contacting the victim and making sure the man in the video was apprehended. To put it simply: If you’re going to be a vile, hate filled lunatic, do it somewhere else – not in\u00a0Mount\u00a0Laurel!\u201d Mount Laurel Mayor Stephen Steglik wrote in a statement.<\/p>\n

He has his first court hearing on Thursday, May 21 and was released with conditions.<\/p>\n

Diiorio does not have an attorney listed and NBC10 was not able to make contact with him as of Friday, May 22. <\/p>\n

His next court date is scheduled for July, 2026. <\/p>\n
