PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — Laurel Hill East has made a tradition to honor Memorial Day alongside the grave sites of American heroes.<\/p>\n

“We are a cemetery, an arboretum, and a funeral home, and we are one of the most historic cemeteries in the entire country. We were started in 1836 and we have 40 plus Civil War Generals here, we have signers of the Declaration of Independence…” said Nancy Goldenberg, President & CEO of Laurel Hill.<\/p>\n

“What’s significant is we’ve been doing this since 1868, if you believe it or not. And it’s a tradition. Here is where people can come and really feel the somberness of the day. You will actually see the graves of so many soldiers, the women and men who sacrificed their lives so that we can live our lives today,” said Goldenberg.<\/p>\n
