Police say a man has been hospitalized after a vehicle crashed in Philly’s Frankford neighborhood shortly after officers awoke a driver found asleep behind the wheel, officials said. <\/p>\n
According to police, the incident happened at about 3:10 a.m. on Monday shortly after officers found a man asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle parked along the 1000 block of Orthodox Street in Philadelphia’s Frankford community.<\/p>\n
Upon being awoke by officers, officials said, the man turned on the vehicle and shifted into drive, pulling away from the scene. <\/p>\n
But, shortly after, his vehicle veered and struck a tree, police said. <\/p>\n
Following the crash, one man was taken to a nearby hospital were, officials said, he was listed in stable condition. <\/p>\n
However, officials were not immediately able to confirm if the injured man was the driver or if he was a passenger in the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Officials have also not said if the driver could face charges in this incident. <\/p>\n
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said. <\/p>\n
