{"id":202227,"date":"2026-05-25T23:51:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T23:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/202227\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T23:51:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T23:51:08","slug":"passenger-dies-from-injuries-after-sedan-hits-tree-in-berks-driver-suspected-of-dui-state-police-say-berks-regional-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/202227\/","title":{"rendered":"Passenger dies from injuries after sedan hits tree in Berks; driver suspected of DUI, state police say | Berks Regional News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BERKS CO., Pa. &#8211; The passenger of a sedan that hit a tree in Berks County over the weekend has died from his injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The passenger\u00a0died at Reading Hospital Sunday around 11:20 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>State police say the accident happened on southbound Route 183 just north of N. 4th Street, at approximately 1:56 a.m. Sunday.\u00a0The black Tesla sedan was traveling south but went into the northbound lane and hit the tree, according to state police.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0state police, the 23-year-old Pottsville man who was driving the car is suspected of being under the influence before the crash.<\/p>\n<p>The passenger suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to a nearby trauma center.
