{"id":202984,"date":"2026-05-26T23:36:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-26T23:36:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/202984\/"},"modified":"2026-05-26T23:36:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-26T23:36:08","slug":"sinkhole-impacting-race-street-in-catasauqua-full-closure-possible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/202984\/","title":{"rendered":"Sinkhole impacting Race Street in Catasauqua; full closure possible"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A sinkhole is impacting traffic on a major Lehigh County road.<\/p>\n<p>Race Street in Catasauqua is down to one lane between 10th and 14th streets as crews prepare to repair the sinkhole, the borough <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid02dneU7hovBT9uZpH7PHJhiDRypAMu2e3fWwyzXeH51aVAbMFqp1wt4e1fxMCNJhjJl&amp;id=61564744212018\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced Tuesday evening in a Facebook post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, it\u2019s possible that could turn into a full closure Wednesday morning when work begins, \u201cif conditions require additional room for crews to work safely,\u201d according to the post.<\/p>\n<p>Work is expected to begin at 7 a.m. The borough warned residents to expect a large amount of equipment in the area. Detour signage will be posted in the event of a full closure.<\/p>\n<p>Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.<\/p>\n<p>Side streets could also be impacted with additional lane and parking restrictions \u201cto allow room for traffic flow, repair equipment and emergency access,\u201d according to the borough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal is to limit the impact to residents as much as possible,\u201d the borough noted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A sinkhole is impacting traffic on a major Lehigh County road.
