Local teachers and administrators can finally let their hair down before the summer season this Friday.<\/p>\n
The Greater Erie Economic Development Corporation (GEEDC) is hosting an Educator Appreciation Celebration at the Warner Theatre.<\/p>\n
From 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, May 29, a live concert will be held to honor the teachers and administrators of Erie County, featuring Edgewood Heavy from Atlanta, Georgia, and Erie\u2019s own The Breeze Band.<\/p>\n
GEEDC\u2019s Chief Executive Officer Gerald Blanks said the organization wanted to show gratitude to a profession that usually goes unappreciated.<\/p>\n
\u201cEducators have been struggling, if you will, with classroom types of things and just having to do more with less, less resources. So, we looked at that and said, \u2018You know, what can we do to make it better at a local level?’\u201d said Blanks. \u201cWe put some things together to say, hey, we want to do some cutting-edge types of things, and say \u2018Hey, let\u2019s let the teachers come out and really enjoy themselves this Friday.’\u201d<\/p>\n
A portion of the proceeds will benefit participating school districts.<\/p>\n
