We visited Presque Isle State Park to take a look at how people were celebrating Memorial Day.<\/p>\n

One family we spoke with came from all over the country to spend time with each other on this special day.<\/p>\n

Despite the wishy-washy weather, Melissa Walters, visiting from Cincinnati, was glad she came to Erie to enjoy games, nature and food with her family.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe honestly didn\u2019t think we were going to make it down here because of the rain and so it was missing this morning and we were like, \u2018please hold off,\u2019 and it did and we\u2019re thankful because it\u2019s beautiful,\u201d Walters said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Annual Memorial Day parade held in Fairview\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Both her father and her husband served in the U.S. military and she said that if it weren\u2019t for veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice, we wouldn\u2019t get to enjoy our freedoms.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it wasn\u2019t for them, we probably wouldn\u2019t be here today, I mean they are keeping us safe, so it\u2019s very important,\u201d Walters said.<\/p>\n

And although Walters admits that having a picnic at the beach is more expensive this year, she said it was worth every penny.<\/p>\n
