PITTSBURGH \u2014 Pittsburgh Public Schools has passed a plan to close multiple schools.<\/p>\n
The board voted on the proposal during a meeting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The plan, titled the \u201cFuture-Ready Facilities Plan,\u201d includes closing 12 schools in nine buildings to balance enrollment, district leaders said.<\/p>\n

Walters, EdD. \u201cThis plan is about far more than buildings. It is about creating equitable opportunities, strengthening academic experiences, and ensuring every student has access to learning environments that support success in college, career and life.\u201d<\/p>\n A Pittsburgh Public Schools spokesperson said school closures include: <\/p>\n Allegheny 6-8Arsenal PreK-5Fulton PreK-5King PreK-5Linden PreK-5Manchester PreK-5Miller PreK-5Milliones 6-12South Brook 6-12South Hills 6-8Spring Hill K-5Woolslair PreK-5<\/p>\n There has been a back and forth between the school and students, parents and advocates who do not agree with the plan.<\/p>\n Dozens gathered to voice their concerns on Tuesday for a final time.<\/p>\n The President of the Board, Gene Walker, released a statement on Tuesday, saying in part: <\/p>\n \u201cShould the plan move forward, implementation will require continued transparency, accountability, community engagement and refinement over time.
