The man, who did not want to share his name, told NBC10 he hopes more people will take pride in keeping neighborhoods clean.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClean is beautiful, I don\u2019t know, makes people happy I guess,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Along the train tracks near Gurney Street, piles of tires, mattresses and garbage bags stretch for blocks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you go towards the train tracks where all the homeless are at, it\u2019s a disaster, there\u2019s couches, abandoned vehicles,\u201d neighbor Natasha Perez said. \u201cWe feel like the city just doesn\u2019t care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perez said the longer illegal dumping sites remain, the more they encourage others to dump trash there as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople just come and they open their doors, and they just throw Chick-fil-A or McDonald\u2019s bags, and I\u2019m like what the hell,\u201d Perez said.<\/p>\n<p>The city says it has more than 400 security cameras monitoring known illegal dumping sites across Philadelphia. Officials say the cameras have helped collect nearly $1 million in judgments against people accused of dumping illegally.<\/p>\n<p>Still, some neighbors say they are focused on doing what they can to keep their blocks clean.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoes it anger you that folks are doing this?\u201d NBC10\u2019s Aaron Baskerville asked the man cleaning Third Street.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can be angry all you want, but it\u2019s going to be there,\u201d he replied. \u201cSo I try and do the best I can for myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This story was originally reported for broadcast by NBC Philadelphia.
