PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> safety Jabrill Peppers <\/a>popped up on Thursday with a quad injury and that made him limited. It is unknown if that injury occurred during practice or at another juncture, but with DeShon Elliott<\/a> already injured, that is less than ideal.<\/p>\n

Peppers has functioned as a crucial piece to the Steelers\u2019 special teams while also playing a reserve safety at strong and free safety. If Kyle Dugger can not get up to speed fast enough, it seems likely that Peppers would get the start, but only if he is healthy. <\/p>\n

Peppers was surprisingly released by the New England Patriots just one year into a three-year deal after the preseason. A leader in the secondary for the team, head coach Mike Vrabel wanted a shakeup. Peppers and Dugger played together with the Patriots.<\/p>\n

Peppers was the first-round pick for the Cleveland Browns in the 2017 NFL Draft, but only spent two seasons with the team being before moved to the New York Giants. After three seasons with the Giants, he spent the last three years with the Patriots.<\/p>\n

Peppers, 30, is coming off a shortened 2024 season. He played in just six games for the Patriots, nothing 40 tackles, one forced fumble, and one interception. He has seven career picks.<\/p>\n
