Authorities seized a firearm and various kinds and quantities of illegal drugs during a Wednesday bust at a Cedar Avenue residence in South Scranton.<\/p>\n
Amid an ongoing narcotics trafficking investigation targeting guns and drugs, members of the Pennsylvania State Police Troop R Vice Unit, in coordination with the Lackawanna County District Attorney\u2019s Office Narcotics Unit, executed a search warrant about 6:30 p.m. at 1022 Cedar Ave., Apartment 1.<\/p>\n
The Scranton Police Department\u2019s street crimes and K9 units also assisted in the multiagency operation, which yielded an \u201cAR-style\u201d 12-gauge shotgun, methamphetamine, cocaine and other drugs, the district attorney\u2019s office said in a news release.<\/p>\n
Benjamin Mosely of Scranton, the target of the investigation, was not at the residence during the search and remains at large, District Attorney Brian Gallagher confirmed Thursday. Mosely is wanted on a criminal warrant charging him with \u201cmultiple felony drug offenses.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to the shotgun, police seized about 250 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 113 grams of powder cocaine, 50 grams of crack cocaine, 87 Suboxone pills, 45 suspected ecstasy pills, roughly an ounce of marijuana, $223 in cash and \u201cassorted drug paraphernalia consistent with drug distribution activity,\u201d per the news release.<\/p>\n
Gallagher praised the coordinated effort and thanked the law enforcement agencies involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe continue to make a significant effort to be more present in our neighborhoods and aggressively target drug dealers who are hurting the quality of life of our citizens,\u201d he said in the release. \u201cThrough strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies, we will continue working to remove dangerous drugs and illegal firearms from our streets and make our neighborhoods safer for the families who live there.\u201d<\/p>\n
