UPPER TULPEHOCKEN TWP., Pa. – From homemade ice cream to farm-fresh milk, one Berks County staple has been serving up sweet treats for generations.<\/p>\n

69 News Reporter Sydney Kay was in\u00a0Upper Tulpehocken Township\u00a0with how it’s a destination on a popular trail this summer.<\/p>\n

The Berks County\u00a0Sweet & Salty Trail takes guests on a journey across the region to ice cream shops, candy stores, and pretzel bakeries, according to the Experience Berks<\/a> website.<\/p>\n

The 2026 trail runs from May 22 through Sept. 8. People can download the\u00a0Experience Berks app. People then get texts right to their phone, and each location they go to they get points, and a chance to win prizes.<\/p>\n

Many of the\u00a0participating locations make their own sweet and salty products.<\/p>\n

Lolly Lesher, with the Way-Har Farm Market<\/a>, said her family’s farm is one of more than 200 dairy farms in\u00a0Berks County. Her family owns and operates the farm and works with a team of employees to make sure the cows are healthy and making great, delicious milk. She said her children are the seventh-generation of dairy farmers.<\/p>\n

Her farm milks and feeds more than 350 cows.<\/p>\n

The milk is used in a variety of products, including ice cream. That’s where the\u00a0Sweet & Salty Trail event, which the farm market participates in, comes in.\u00a0Lesher said the\u00a0Experience Berks organization highlights family-owned businesses that focus on food in the county.<\/p>\n

Lesher said consumers in Berks are blessed to have so much fresh local food available to them within 10-20 minutes of their home. The\u00a0family-owned businesses offer a variety of food and experiences, she said.<\/p>\n

She said the\u00a0Sweet & Salty Trail is a great way to get to know local farms and farm markets.<\/p>\n
