Officers responded to the 4600 block of Westminster Avenue at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, according to police.<\/p>\n
When they arrived, they found a 67-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds on the sidewalk in front of a neighbor’s home. Investigators believe the victim had tried to seek help from the neighbor before she was stabbed multiple times by her daughter.<\/p>\n
The woman was transported by Philadelphia Fire Department medics to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.<\/p>\n
Investigators believe the stabbing happened outside the victim’s apartment. According to Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace, the victim’s daughter did not live at the residence but visited frequently.<\/p>\n
In an update issued Monday, June 1, Philadelphia police said the victim’s daughter had been taken into custody and was being interviewed by homicide detectives.<\/p>\n
No charges had been announced as of publication, and the investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
