James Earl Brown, 78, of Erie, Pa, transitioned on May 23, 2026, at home. He was born in Yazoo City, MS on November 19, 1947, son of the late Albert and Rosie (Manning) Brown.<\/p>\n
James worked in the warehouse at Welch\u2019s, where he was employed for 25 years. \u00a0Many knew him as \u201cCoon Dog.\u201d<\/p>\n
He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Viola L. Fountain of Anguilla, MS, four sisters, Jossie Powell of Bellwood, IL, Alma Cummings of Chicago, IL, Bessie Bryant of Oak Park, IL, Shelly Gilbert of Louise, MS, four brothers, Albert Brown of Erie, PA, Charlie Brown of Chicago, IL, Ricky Brown of Maywood, IL and Raymond Brown of Maywood, IL. He also leaves\u00a09 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Quinn and Carl Quinn.<\/p>\n
Relatives and friends are invited to call at Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 east 12th Street, Erie, PA 16503 on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 11:00 am until the time of his funeral service at 12:00 pm.
