Mayor Paige Cognetti and other members of her administration, including local leaders, were at the ribbon-cutting along Cedar Avenue in Scranton.<\/p>\n<p>The four blocks from Alder Street to Orchard Street received new sidewalks and trees installed on both sides of the avenue on the south side of Scranton.<\/p>\n<p><a data-ylk=\"slk:28\/22 News I-Team Reporter Andy Mehalshick announces retirement;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/news\/28-22-news-team-reporter-221934821.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a028\/22 News I-Team Reporter Andy Mehalshick announces retirement\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cognetti told members of the media on Monday that the area cost around $700,000. The construction in the area started in September, was paused for the winter, and finished in May.<\/p>\n<p>Residents who live and walk along the road told 28\/22 News they were frustrated as the project was underway, but kept reminding themselves that it was now the first completed project in the over $15,000,000 effort taking place across the city.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
