(WJET\/WFXP)\u2013 The Union Pacific Big Boy locomotive is making its way across the nation and is set to arrive in the Erie and western New York areas next.<\/p>\n
Big Boy No. 4014, the world\u2019s largest steam locomotive, is making its way through the area on June 9 and 10 as part of our nation\u2019s 250th birthday and will be the first time it\u2019s stopped in Pennsylvania and Ohio, giving residents the chance to see it in action.<\/p>\n
Joe Nichols set to headline 2026 Crawford County Fair Country Music Night <\/a><\/p>\n Big Boy will be rolling into the area on Tuesday, June 9, starting in Conneaut, Ohio, at 9 am, though the Union Pacific website said there will be no public access.<\/p>\n Its next stop in Erie County will be in North East near the Lake Shore Railway Museum, located at 143 S. Lake St., arriving around 11:30 am and leaving at 11:40 am for Ripley, New York, in Chautauqua County.<\/p>\n Several businesses and organizations in Erie are hosting watch parties for the big day and allowing people to see the train from their parking lots.<\/p>\n Arrowhead Wine Cellars in North East will be hosting a watch party as Big Boy passes through their fields around 11:40. Brewerie at Union Station will also host a watch party from 9 to 11 am. The Harborcreek Fire Department also welcomed residents to watch the train go by from their parking lot.<\/p>\n It\u2019s set to arrive in Ripley at the State Street crossing at noon and will depart at 12:30 pm for a private Norfolk Southern employee event in Buffalo that will have no public access.<\/p>\n PA state senator preparing legislation on data center requirements <\/a><\/p>\n However, there will be a free event in Buffalo on June 10 from 9 am to 2:30 pm with free shuttles available at the Walden Galleria Mall on the north side near Primark.<\/p>\n Capacity for the Walden Galleria Mall event will be limited, Union Pacific said, with metered parking enforced and no parking or pedestrian access\u00a0at the display site; attendees are advised to use shuttles instead.<\/p>\n The full schedule is available online here.<\/a><\/p>\n Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
