A man wanted for murder in Pennsylvania was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Alabama.<\/p>\n
Michael Anthony Boccia, 36, was sought in connection with the Monday morning slaying of 37-year-old Keshia M. Gonzalez in York, Pa.<\/p>\n
Boccia called the Manheim Borough Police Department about 11 p.m. Monday threatening to kill himself, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/a><\/p>\n Authorities determined Boccia was in Cullman.<\/p>\n They tried to remain on the line with him and contacted a police dispatcher in Alabama.<\/p>\n As Cullman police officers tried to approach him near the Cullman Police Department on Northcrest Dr. N.W., they found him in his 2013 Toyota Avalon that was backed into a parking space with the lights off.<\/p>\n Officer gave commands for the man to exit the car. During the incident, Boccia sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.<\/p>\n He was taken to Cullman Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dedad at 11:39 p.m.<\/p>\n Police said no officers fired their guns during the encounter.<\/p>\n His death is under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.<\/p>\n The fatal shooting of Gonzalez happened at an apartment on North Main Street in Manheim Borough.<\/p>\n Police had been dispatched to the residence shortly after 7:30 a.m. Monday after reports of multiple shots being fired and a woman yelling for help, district attorney officials said.<\/p>\n When officers arrived, they found Gonzalez on the floor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and beyond help.<\/p>\n An eyewitness told police they heard Gonzalez yelling for help but were unable to open her door.<\/p>\n As the witness was attempting to enter Gonzalez\u2019s apartment to help her, Boccia emerged from the doorway, pointing a handgun at the witness.<\/p>\n The witness retreated from the apartment and then heard three gunshots.<\/p>\n Surveillance footage showed a maroon sedan consistent with the one registered to Boccia arriving at Gonzalez\u2019s apartment around 7:20 a.m. and a figure ascending the stairs to her residence.<\/p>\n Audio from the surveillance footage captured yelling and the sound of three gunshots around 7:30 a.m., after which a figure can be seen fleeing Gonzalez\u2019s residence and speeding away in the maroon sedan.<\/p>\n Multiple witnesses told police Boccia had called them on the day of the shooting, including family members, who stated that he told them he had done something bad.<\/p>\n A search of Gonzalez\u2019s residence uncovered shell casings near her body.<\/p>\n He had faced charges of criminal homicides, firearms not to be carried without a license, simple assault and possessing a prohibited firearm.<\/p>\n If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal feelings, help is available 24\/7 at the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling 988 or via online chat at 988lifeline.org<\/a>.
