The crash happened at Bristol Road and Chestnut Avenue in Bensalem Township around 4:48 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, according to police.<\/p>\n
The driver of a Toyota RAV4 was found dead at the scene and has not yet been identified, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Investigators said the crash followed a domestic-related incident in Lower Southampton Township. The driver fled that scene at a high rate of speed on Bristol Road, 6abc Action News reported.<\/p>\n
The Toyota driver crossed into oncoming traffic while attempting to pass another vehicle and collided with a Hyundai Kona, according to investigators.<\/p>\n
The Toyota then became airborne before striking a Honda SUV and a Ford pickup truck, police said.<\/p>\n
Photos from the crash show a white SUV overturned on its roof as emergency responders worked in the area.<\/p>\n
It was not immediately clear whether anyone else involved in the crash was injured.<\/p>\n
Lower Southampton Fire Department No. 1 said its rescue and special services crews assisted Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department Station 4 and Bensalem Township Fire Rescue Department at the scene.<\/p>\n
At 6:48 p.m., Lower Southampton Township announced Bristol Road was closed between Brownsville Road and Old Lincoln Highway due to an accident investigation and was expected to remain shut down for several hours.<\/p>\n
