A 28-year-old Sandusky man is facing a murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred May 31 in the city.<\/p>\n
Tyler Cohen, of Pearl Street, was charged with murder, a first-degree felony, according to the Sandusky Police Department.<\/p>\n
At 3 p.m., police officers and emergency personnel responded to the 1500 block of Pearl Street following a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.<\/p>\n
The victim was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
Despite lifesaving efforts, the man later died from his injuries, police said.<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s name is yet being publicly released.<\/p>\n
Sandusky police officers and detectives immediately initiated an investigation into the shooting.<\/p>\n
Through the course of that investigation, detectives identified Cohen as the alleged suspect, police said.<\/p>\n
Cohen was located a short time later, taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Erie County Jail.<\/p>\n
Cohen is in jail on a $1 million bond.<\/p>\n
The shooting remains an active investigation.<\/p>\n
During the June 1 court hearing in Sandusky Municipal Court, Cohen was ordered to have no contact with the victim\u2019s family, according to court records.<\/p>\n
Cohen is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing June 10.<\/p>\n
