GATES, N.Y. \u2014 Gates police are investigating after a woman was found dead near Lee Road and the Erie Canal on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n
Police responded to the area around 7:30 p.m. on June 2 after someone called to report an unresponsive person who was unconscious and not breathing. Officers found an adult woman deceased when they arrived.<\/p>\n
Gates Police Chief Robert Long said the circumstances surrounding the incident are being treated as suspicious. An active investigation is underway, but no additional information is available at this time.<\/p>\n
