Exploring centuries of Philadelphia history is about to get a lot easier \u2014 and more affordable.<\/p>\n
Historic Germantown<\/a> is bringing back its Historic Germantown One Pass for a second summer, giving visitors discounted access to nine museums, historic homes and cultural institutions across one of the city’s most historically significant neighborhoods<\/a>.<\/p>\n Running from June 12 through Aug. 29, the pass allows history buffs, curious locals and summer tourists to experience a wide range of stories that have shaped both Philadelphia and the nation.\u00a0<\/p>\n Following a successful debut last year, organizers have expanded the program with new features designed to give visitors more flexibility. Most notably, passholders will now have the entire 12-week season to use their ticket, a significant change from last year, when passes expired after one week.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re incredibly excited to bring the One Pass back for a second year and grateful once again for the continued partnership and support from Visit Philadelphia,\u201d says Tuomi Forrest, executive director of Historic Germantown. \u201cThere\u2019s truly no other neighborhood in Philadelphia where visitors can experience this breadth of history, culture, and storytelling within such close proximity.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n The One Pass costs $43 for adults, $28 for youth ages 6 to 13 and seniors 65 and older, and is free for children ages 5 and younger.\u00a0<\/p>\n Most locations will be open to passholders Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m., although some institutions will offer additional visiting hours throughout the week. Visitors are encouraged to check each institution\u2019s website in advance before visiting to check hours and reservation requirements.<\/p>\n The program arrives at a time when Philadelphia is preparing to welcome millions of visitors<\/a> for major national celebrations and international events over the next year.<\/p>\n \u201cSome of the most important stories in Philadelphia and American history are rooted in Germantown,\u201d says Jessica Calter, senior vice president of advancement and external affairs at Visit Philadelphia. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to support the return of the One Pass because it gives residents and visitors an accessible way to experience this remarkable neighborhood at such a historic moment for Philadelphia and the nation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n The Historic Germantown One Pass unlocks access to nine institutions, each offering a different window into the people, events and cultural movements that helped shape the city and the country.<\/p>\n The following institutions are participating:<\/p>\n Cliveden of the National Trust <\/p>\n 6401 Germantown Ave.<\/p>\n A historic estate connected to the Battle of Germantown and the lives of the enslaved individuals who lived there.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The Colored Girls Museum <\/p>\n 4613 Newhall St.<\/p>\n A celebrated cultural space centering the voices, stories, and lived experiences of Black girls and women.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Concord School House and Upper Burial Ground <\/p>\n 6309 Germantown Ave.<\/p>\n An 18th-century one-room schoolhouse preserving early American education history.<\/p>\n Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion <\/p>\n 200 W.
