The Allentown Diocese is ordaining its largest class of new priests in decades.<\/p>\n
Bishop Alfred Schlert is ordaining the six men to the priesthood at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena in Allentown.<\/p>\n
The six men to be ordained are:<\/p>\n
Rev. Dominic Civitella<\/p>\n
Civitella grew up in Easton, and his home parish is St. Jane Frances de Chantal in Palmer Township. The son of Michael and Allison Civitella, he earned a degree in English writing from Slippery Rock University and spent his transitional deacon year at Sacred Heart in West Reading and Holy Rosary in Reading.<\/p>\n
Rev. Tyler Davis<\/p>\n
Davis grew up in Coopersburg, and his home parish is Assumption BVM in Upper Saucon Township. The son of Todd and Michelle Davis, he converted to Catholicism while studying marketing and philosophy at DeSales University. He served his transitional deacon year at St. Catharine of Siena in Exeter Township.<\/p>\n
Rev. Tyler Loch<\/p>\n
Loch grew up in Ironton, and his home parish is Holy Trinity in Whitehall Township. The son of Daniel and Maria Loch, he entered the seminary after graduating from Parkland High School and served his transitional deacon year at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena in Allentown.<\/p>\n
Rev. Anh Do Mai<\/p>\n
Born in Vietnam, he moved with his family to Reading in 2006. The son of Dieu Mai and Nhung Pham, his home parish is St. Paul in Reading. He studied chemistry at Temple University and served his transitional deacon year at Holy Infancy and Incarnation of Our Lord parishes in Bethlehem.<\/p>\n
Rev. Hy James Gia Ngo<\/p>\n
After growing up in Bien Hoa City, Vietnam, he worked as an architect before entering the seminary. He is the son of Oanh T. Tran and the late Ngo Dinh Bo. He served his transitional deacon year at Queenship of Mary and Assumption BVM parishes in Northampton.<\/p>\n
Rev. Jeffrey Tomczyk<\/p>\n
Tomczyk\u2019s home parish is St. Catharine of Siena in Exeter Township. The son of Todd and Rebecca Tomczyk, he earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in elementary education at Lock Haven University and was a teacher for several years before entering the seminary. He served his transitional deacon year at St. Ambrose in Schuylkill Haven.<\/p>\n
Schlert said the six represent the diocese\u2019s largest class of ordinations in 40 years. It comes as the diocese marks its 65th anniversary.<\/p>\n
An evening of prayer with the bishop and the six being ordained will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena in Allentown. Evening prayer is open to the faithful, with no ticket or registration required.<\/p>\n
Due to the limited seating, attendance at the Ordination Mass is by ticket only for the families and guests of the men being ordained. The Mass will will be livestreamed on the diocese\u2019s news site at www.ad-today.com\/live<\/a> or on YouTube at youtube.com\/DioceseofAllentown<\/a>. It will also be aired on Service Electric Channel 50.<\/p>\n
