BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA \u2014 A Parx Racing thoroughbred exercise rider suffered “catastrophic injuries” during an incident over the past weekend and now the community is rallying around him.<\/p>\n
On the morning of May 30, 26-year-old thoroughbred exercise rider Hector Cotto was injured when a loose horse collided with him and his mount.<\/p>\n
Cotto is now in critical condition and facing a long road to recovery, said Whitney Reid, who has launched a fundraiser supporting him.<\/p>\n
Reid said that Cotto is a “hardworking, dedicated horseman” whose passion for racing and unwavering commitment to the horses he rides have earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues, friends, and the entire racing community.<\/p>\n
Those who know Cotto know his strength, kindness, and tireless work ethic, Reid said.<\/p>\n
During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking for your support to help ease the financial burden on Cotto and his family. <\/p>\n
